¨Captain America Brave New World,¨ directed by Julius Onah, is the newest Marvel movie that was released in theaters on February 14, 2025. It made over 413 million dollars in box office with a budget of reportedly 380 million which means it didn’t do too great. Yet, I still think it was a good movie. It was the fourth Captain America movie made by Marvel studios, but Captain America wasn’t Steve Rogers like in the other three movies.
This movie focused on Sam Wilson, ex Falcon, stepping up to the plate of being Captain America. At the end of ¨Avengers Endgame¨, Steve gives Sam the shield, and says he should be the next Captain America. Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, didn’t feel as if he deserved the role, and is shown in ¨The Falcon and Winter Soldier¨ show that Sam gave the shield to the museum. At the end of that show, however, he embraces the role as Captain America and becomes Captain America with falcon wings.
The plot of ¨Captain America Brave New World¨ is basically just Sam and his friend Joaquin Torres, played by Danny Ramirez, and the new Falcon, have to face the new protagonist The Leader, who´s movie from the comic adaptation is a little bad and hated by fans. The Leader, also known as Samuel Sterns, played by Tim Blake Nelson, has many mind based powers, including superhuman intelligence which poses a huge threat to the protagonists as he threats to overthrow the government alone and uses the minor antagonist Red Hulk, also known as Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford. Red Hulk’s role in the movie is to be a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment, and poses a massive threat if he goes off, but has only a little bit of screen time.
¨Captain America Brave New World¨ only scored a 48% on rotten tomatoes, and a 5.8/10 on IMBd it safe to say most people don’t like this movie. Which I personally disagree with, I think this movie is great, not perfect, but great. It has a decent score that adds suspense to some scenes, and the acting is very good. The plot and pacing can be iffy at times, but overall it’s pretty good. So I rate this movie a 7.5/10
