JH Wrestling

This wrestling season promises to be exciting with the introduction of 3-point takedowns for all age groups. The junior high team has its first match on December 11 against Derry.

Several 9th graders are returning this season, including Gamin Owens, Gunner Duel, Even Ulewicz, Josh Short, Owen Kunkleman, Colton Walker, and Logan Skuta. The team also has new additions, including Sebastian Shine, Mattox Mehalic, and Tanner Humme. Some of our team’s best wrestlers include Logan Peagler, Logan Skuta, Sebastian Shine, and Mattox Mehalic. Last year, nine wrestlers qualified for the PJW state tournament, with one placing. This year, we hope to have even more.

The wrestling team will compete in our first tournament of the year at the South Fayette Tournament on December 13 and 14. Most wrestlers are particularly excited about Christmas break, as the two-pound allowance will raise all weight classes by two pounds, making it easier to meet weight requirements.

The Latrobe High School wrestling team will compete on December 6 and 7 in Hickory and against Derry on December 11.

Wrestling is the best sport. It requires time and dedication. When you win a match, you may feel tired, but you also feel accomplished, which is why wrestling is truly the best sport.
