When you think of skiing in knee-deep powder you usually think of the Rockies instead of the Appalachians. This ski season however, was quite the opposite. Vermont has had record high snowfall, while Colorado has been having a snow drought.
Usually if you want to ski fresh powder you would want to ski in the rockies. This year however, you would want to ski the east. For example Stowe VT has 289” snowfall at this point in the 2025-2026 ski season and is still going strong. Vail Co has 150” this season which is a little more half of its annual snowfall of about 250”. For reference Seven Springs Pa, has more snowfall this season than half of the resorts out west. Usually the resort out west will have about double the snowfall of Springs. This shows just how crazy this season was.
This ski season has been all up and down. From 60 degree highs to lows in the negatives. 14” snow storms to ½” of rain this ski season was unpredictable. Overall, I’ve never seen a season like it. This season will be one to remember.
